Nu-Blu Releases New Single Encouraging Listeners to Discover Roots Amid COVID-19 Quarantine

Nashville, Tenn. – The wait is finally over, as Acoustic mainstays Nu-Blu release their brand new single, “Horse Thieves and Moonshiners.” The song serves as the lead single from the group’s upcoming full-length project, set for release in summer 2020. Based on the title alone, it’s far different than what listeners might expect. The introspective track invites people to look at their past and learn more about their own personal history. The band is also excited to announce the collection as a revolutionary co-labeled release, inking a combo deal with both Turnberry Records and MC1 Nashville (distributed by Sony Orchard).

“Right now all of us in Nu-Blu are feeling the same way everyone else is feeling. We’re worried about loved ones, concerned about finances and seem to find ourselves watching the news or scrolling through social media hoping for that announcement that this is all over,” says Nu-Blu. “But we realized there’s no better time than this, while we’re all together with our families to learn more about where we came from. It’s those stories that many times we only hear at holidays or family reunions, that we pass down through a verbal history. Now is the time to learn about that crazy story from mom or dad of something they did as a teenager, or uncover something really cool about your great-great grandparents. Who knows, they might have just been horse thieves and moonshiners.”

“Horse Thieves and Moonshiners” marks Nu-Blu’s first release of original music in nearly three years, following the release of their critically-acclaimed album Vagabonds, and the Billboard charting DVD “The Stories We Can Tell.” With this new single, they stick true to their roots, delivering a song that spotlights the duo of Carolyn and Daniel Routh, along with band members Justin Harrison and Austin Hefflefinger. Special guest Ron Stewart on fiddle adds his own touch to the track. The song was co-written by Jeff Walter and Nelda Sisk. Jeff sums it up best, “If you trace your family tree back far enough, you’re bound to find some pioneers, some outsiders, some outlaws. And you can embrace that or ignore it, but something from those generations is encoded in your DNA.”

In addition to releasing new music, Nu-Blu appears weekly as the hosts of the nationally-syndicated TV program, “Bluegrass Ridge.” The 30-minute weekly show features the very best music in the genre, while also capturing exclusive interviews with the biggest names in all of Bluegrass and Roots music. In addition to airing on multiple channels like Heartland TV, The Family Channel, Keep It Country – UK, Country TV – New Zealand and the Z Living Channel, they’re also excited to announce the show is now streaming online and through the Bluegrass Ridge app available at bluegrassridgetv.com (check local listing HERE).

Since their last release, Nu-Blu has gathered no moss. Spending the majority of the year on the road performing to crowds from coast-to-coast, the chart-toppers are excited to showcase the new material in 2020. In addition to adding their own music cruise and inviting fans to join them on a special bus tour of Ireland in Sept. of 2020.
